Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how humanBit collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal information of users who access the humanBit Portal. Please read this document carefully. By using the Portal, you agree to the practices described herein.

humanBit is a technology company building AI-powered tools and portals for businesses, developers, and professionals. Our Portal enables users to access humanBit's suite of products, manage their accounts, contribute data or feedback, and collaborate on AI-related projects.

References to "humanBit", "we", "us", or "our" throughout this policy refer to humanBit and any affiliated entities involved in the collection or processing of your personal information.

2. Scope and Applicability

This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information collected through:

  • The humanBit Portal, accessible at portal.humanbit.in (the “Portal”)
  • Any associated mobile or web applications, APIs, or services operated by humanBit
  • Interactions you have with us via email, support channels, events, or surveys

This policy does not apply to third-party websites, services, or applications that may be linked to or from our Portal. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with our Portal.

3. Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal information in three ways: directly from you, automatically from your device, and from third-party sources.

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account & IdentityFull name, email address, phone number, country of residence, and password. Professional background, areas of expertise, and skill-related information. Profile photo and bio (optional). Government-issued identification for identity verification purposes where required.
  • Contribution & Task DataUploaded content, task submissions, annotations, AI feedback, ratings, and any other material you submit through the Portal.
  • Payment & Financial InformationBank account details, UPI IDs, PAN, GST number, or other tax identification required for payments and statutory compliance.
  • Support & Communication DataMessages, support tickets, and any correspondence with our team.
  • Survey & Feedback DataResponses to surveys, user research interviews, product feedback forms, and promotional entries.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access or use the Portal, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and device identifiers
  • Pages viewed, features accessed, session duration, clicks, and navigation patterns
  • Referring URLs — the site you visited before arriving at our Portal
  • Cookie identifiers and similar tracking technologies (see Section 8 for details)

3.3 Information From Third Parties

We may receive personal information about you from third parties, including:

  • Google or LinkedIn sign-in, if you use social authentication to access the Portal — we collect your name, email address, and profile picture from these platforms
  • Identity verification partners who confirm your identity during onboarding
  • Payment processors and financial service providers who facilitate disbursements to you
  • Business partners who provision Portal access on your behalf

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • AffiliatesEntities within the humanBit group may access your information to provide, improve, and promote our services.
  • Service ProvidersWe engage trusted third-party vendors such as cloud hosting providers, payment processors, identity verification services, and analytics tools who process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations and in compliance with this policy.
  • Business PartnersIf your Portal access was provisioned through a business partner or enterprise client, that partner's administrator may have access to information associated with your account in accordance with the terms agreed between you, them, and humanBit.
  • Clients and Project OwnersWe may share your profile information, skills, contribution history, and relevant work with our enterprise clients or project owners in order to match you with suitable opportunities and verify your qualifications.
  • Legal and Regulatory AuthoritiesWe may share information with law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other government authorities where required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of humanBit, our users, or others.
  • Corporate TransactionsIn the event of a merger, acquisition, asset sale, restructuring, or similar corporate transaction, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you of any such transfer as required by applicable law.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

  • Account data is retained for the duration of your active account and for up to 3 years following account closure, unless a longer period is required by law.
  • Financial and payment records are retained for the period required under applicable tax and accounting laws, typically 7 years in India.
  • Contribution and task data may be retained for longer periods where it forms part of AI training datasets, subject to applicable agreements and anonymisation where feasible.
  • Identity verification data including any images or government ID copies is retained for up to 2 years from your last active interaction with the Portal, or as required by applicable law.

Upon expiry of the applicable retention period, your data will be securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised. To request early deletion of your data, please contact us at apoorv@humanbit.in.

7. Data Security

humanBit employs industry-standard physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Role-based access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only
  • Regular security assessments and vulnerability testing
  • Incident response procedures for detecting and responding to data breaches

No method of data transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights and freedoms, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and similar technologies to operate and improve the Portal, understand how users interact with our services, and deliver relevant communications.

To unsubscribe from marketing communications, use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or contact us directly. You may still receive service-related communications essential to your use of the Portal.

humanBit is headquartered in India. Your personal information may be stored and processed in India or in other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Portal, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred outside your country of residence.

Where we transfer personal information internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms — to ensure your information is protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

11. Children's Privacy

The humanBit Portal is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

12. Third-Party Links and Integrations

The Portal may contain links to third-party websites, tools, or services such as payment gateways, productivity integrations, or partner platforms. humanBit is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites and services.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, business practices, or applicable laws. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on the Portal and, where appropriate, by sending you an email notification.

The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of the Portal following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
